User Defined Groups are used to reorganize engineering data into packs of work to be issued to a construction crew according to your needs. In the User Defined dialog, you can perform operations on the item. If you click a piece of equipment, it highlights in the model. You can also give it focus or fade to gray everything but your selection.

There are two ways to create User Defined Groups:

• Auto User Defined Groups are created by an Administrator through ConstructSim Executive. This includes groups created from VCM Component Attributes, custom databases or spreadsheets, and standard ConstructSim Planner Pipe User Defined Groups.
• User Defined Groups are created manually through ConstructSim Planner.
• Read-only user defined groups can be created in ConstructSim Work Package Server and synchronized with ConstructSim Planner.

Administrators and users can share User Defined Groups created from multiple machines. The Synchronize changes tool (Tasks dialog’s ConstructSim pane) synchronizes the local machines to the network, creating an updated i-model with the latest revisions to User Defined Groups. Before creating a new user-defined group, make sure to coordinate your work with other users.
